The City of Fostoria is accepting applications for a Day Shift Fill-In Operator at the Water Treatment Plant. This position plays an important role in ensuring safe, reliable drinking water for our community.
Key Responsibilities Include:
- Operating and monitoring pumps, motors, valves, and treatment equipment
- Regulating water flow and pressure throughout the plant
- Applying and adjusting chemical dosages (chlorine, alum, fluoride, etc.)
- Testing water samples for quality, hardness, acidity, and fluoridation levels
- Recording operational data such as turbidity, chemical residuals, and pressure readings
- Cleaning tanks and filter beds (including backwashing procedures)
- Performing minor maintenance and assisting with heavier maintenance duties
- Responding to citizen complaints as needed
- Following all prescribed safety rules and operating procedures
Candidates must have a high school diploma or GED. Mechanical ability is preferred. Operator certification may be required or obtained after hire in accordance with state standards.
